MAG Medical Disaster Response Day 4 (Super Typhoon #YolandaPH, #Haiyan)

Andres Magalong (Gil) is currently positioned at Divine Word Hospital in Tacloban City to pick up the remaining food and relief packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). However, only 100 packs can be accommodated by the small boat going to Manicani Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Tomorrow at 0325H, Dr. Leah C. Faderon-Fajutagana, Dr. Jaykee Rodriguez and Lucia Ventic will fly to Tacloban via Cebu Pacific Air to meet and coordinate with Gil. Then they will take a 5 ½-hour boat ride to Manicani for their 4-day medical mission. They are scheduled to fly back to Manila on the 25th

MAG will send its van full of goods, water, medicines and fuel (diesel and gasoline) via RORO to Guiuan to boost the supplies of the medical responders. We have coordinated with the Philippine National Police (PNP) for security and assistance.

We learned that Tacloban to Guiuan is now accessible by land transportation (5-hour ride). We are still in contact with the Health Futures Foundation, Inc. for the possible free airlift. We are also trying to seek the support of the Philippine Air Force for free personnel and goods lift via its C-130 aircraft.

To those who continue to donate cash, goods, water, medicines and clothes from local and international organizations and individuals, maraming maraming salamat po!
