How has human rights fared from one Aquino President to another Aquino administration? What have been the gains? Were there any reversals? What are the challenges to the in-coming President? Are we journeying towards genuine development, greater democracy and enjoying our human rights more?
Reflecting on EDSA and human rights become more relevant as the country is about to elect a new leadership with the forthcoming national elections in May. The Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and human rights defenders (HRDs) are in a position to hold government accountable to their obligations: to respect, protect and fulfill human rights, thereby developed Human Rights Agenda as electoral platform of candidates in the lead up to May elections and eventually as lobbying points for a National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP).
